Boot Fit – “Break in ” Your Boots

| |

I was wearing my new dehner dress boots today, still, uncomfortable, as I always felt there's a gap between my heel and the boots, so the feeling is like walking up and down. So I did a little research about boot fit.

I have a size 7 feet for sneakers, but as I have a wide feet, so sometimes I will need a size 7.5 or 8. In that way, my front part of feet feel comfortable, but my later part of feet and the shoes, there is always a gap. So I always feel like walking up and down.

Later today I called stomersboots, and want to exchange for the smaller size boots, then he said I could, but also, he explained that it's quite normal to have that feeling-walking up and down…as they are boots, different from normal shoes.

I still didn't believe I, so I did a search, and I's true. here is on the internet:

A western boot does not have a heel like a shoe or a lace up boot, it does not adhere to the heel in the same way. Because of the fit of the heel , a boot has to be “broken in” to fit properly. When purchasing western boots, you should expect the heel to slide up and down until the area above the heel “breaks”. This means that the leather above the heel will collapase and the shaft will drop about a quarter of an inch. When this happens the boot will mold to the wearers foot. If you buy a boot that does not slide, it will be a tight uncomfortable fit  that may cause blisters on your heel, and unwanted pressure on the toes.

Also, I asked my friend in UK, who has over 30 pair of boots, mostly MX Boots, he told me the same thing. Wearing boots on the street is different than wearing sneakers on the street. so I'd better find some insoles, thin socks, thick socks, boot socks, and try a good combination so I can walk well on the street with boots.
